Brittany & Michael

Brittany and Michael rock.  They are the most laid back, easy going couple I think I’ve ever worked with.  They are artists in the truest sense of the word and their personalities showed in every aspect of this wedding.  In fact, most of the wedding party and guests were artists as well.  This wedding was an honor for me to photograph.  The day started cloudy and as we got closer to Mile High Station, I started getting nervous about the weather.  I’m a natural light photographer.  Give me any kind of outdoor light and I can work with it to my advantage.  But rain on a wedding day…I think I like it less than the brides do.   It started drizzling as the groomesmen were getting there so we hurried to take some formals outside and as soon as we came in the sky opened up.  I mean it was pouring…cats and dogs.  The rain didn’t let up nearly all night.  So, with the help of my ultra fabulous, ever so good looking assistant (i.e. my hubby) we set up lights and had to shoot the entire event with on and off camera lighting.  It was definitely a challenge for me but we learned a lot from the experience.  And I think Brittany and Michael looked amazing with whatever kind of light was cast on them!

Instead of a wedding cake, Brittany and Michael opted for a tower of cupcakes.  I have two rules for myself during a wedding:  1.  no eating cake; and 2.  no alcohol.  Cupcakes are not included in either of those rules and the red velvet with cream cheese frosting was deeelish!

Because of the rainy wedding day, I asked Brittany and Michael if they would be up for a “day after” session.  They were game.  Last week, we headed over to Brittany’s old college, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design which is a quaint and beautiful campus.

Amazing photos!!! You did a great job, in spite of the rain, Dawn. You are gifted. I love the collage and I love the shots you got with all the clouds, etc. The lighting inside was great, too. Those cupcakes look like they are to die for!! My mouth is watering just looking at them. Looks like this was an amazingly fun wedding!!

Wow you did a great job! I would have had a hard time with using lights, but your pictures turned out really nice. It looks like it was a really neat building too on the inside. I love the cupcake idea they had too! looks awesome!
