The business of being born

As I was chatting with my good friend Megan one afternoon, she mentioned that she was thinking about having her third child at home.  I was a bit in shock since her other two were born in the hospital but I have always found it inspiring when women are brave enough to commit to something so unpredictable.  She asked if I would be willing to photograph her birth.  I’ll just say right up front, I am not a birth photographer.  However, the birth of my second daughter was photographed by my good friend and photographer Trudy and the album that came from that is one of my most treasured belongings.  So, I said I would love to.  Witnessing a new life coming into this world is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever done.  Megan was so brave and confident and her husband Rick was just a rock for her.  I was in awe at how beautiful the whole experience was.   Thank you Megan and Rick for allowing me to document and be a part of something so sacred and special.  I’ll never forget it!

And not quite a week old, I went back for her newborn shoot.  She is just beautiful, isn’t she?

This is my last post from my mini-sessions over the past weekend.  They were such a big hit that I opened one last day up.  I have two spots left for November 7th.  This will be the last of the mini-sessions for the year. If you want details, email me!   I had such a great time with this family.  I think big sister has a career in front of the camera down the road…she was such a great sport!  And I just love the little chubby baby legs!  Thank you Jones Family!

Mom & Dad

My parents have been married 38 years now and are a beautiful picture of what marriage should be.  They are a tremendous blessing to me and my family.  They taught me to love life, others and most importantly God.  They have always been there for me no matter what the situation and now they are the greatest grandparents to my children.  We would be a mess without them!  Love you Mom and Dad!
